Business Development Executive

Location: Great Lakes region, Chicago area preferred

Cortex is hiring a full-time Business Development Executive (BDE) in the Great Lakes region to identify and develop new sales prospects for our high-growth healthcare technology company. Cortex provides software that helps post-acute healthcare providers track and follow-up with patients post-discharge, ensuring better clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. Targeting home health agencies and skilled nursing facilities, the BDE will introduce Cortex software and services to, and build relationships with, Cortex sales prospects, garnering interest in our solutions and facilitating a smooth hand-off to the Cortex sales team. The ideal BDE candidate will have experience in the healthcare industry and some familiarity with sales methods and processes; more importantly, the BDE must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, should have demonstrated independent and effective time-management skills, and be able to serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for Cortex. The BDE should be both based in the Great Lakes region and readily able to travel within that region.

Cortex is driven to assist post-acute providers in their mission to care for patients. Founded in 2015, we were originally known for making follow-up calls to patients after discharge from the hospital. Since that time we have become a full-featured software platform for post-acute providers, sitting alongside the Electronic Health Records system to generate opportunities for positive healthcare outcomes.

  • Identify and develop new sales prospects for Cortex in the Great Lakes region
  • Target home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities, and other post-acute prospects
  • Conduct phone calls, emails, in-person meetings and occasionally attend trade shows
  • Introduce Cortex, garner prospect interest, and facilitate a smooth hand-off to sales team
  • Provide demonstrations of Cortex software to prospects
  • Enjoy a fun and fast-paced work environment with a tight-knit team
  • Experience in the healthcare industry (BD for home health or SNF preferred)
  • Experience in business development, sales and/or relationship-building
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to respond and adapt quickly to objections from healthcare organizations
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well on a tight-knit team
  • Comfortable with the fast-changing environment of a high-growth tech company
  • Ability to travel readily around the Great Lakes region (all expenses reimbursed)
  • Based in the Great Lakes region, greater Chicago area preferred
